Janakpur Bolts Defeat Kathmandu Gurkhas by 8 Wickets as Moeen Ali Stars in NPL 2026

October 29, 2026: Janakpur Bolts secured a convincing eight-wicket victory over Kathmandu Gurkhas in the fifth match of Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2026 at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Thursday. Chasing 116, Janakpur reached 116/2 in 17.2 overs, with 16 balls remaining.

Moeen Ali led the successful chase with an unbeaten 58 off 51 deliveries, while Saif Hassan contributed an unbeaten 40 off 39 balls. Saif also impressed with the ball, taking two wickets for just 11 runs in his four overs.

Kathmandu Gurkhas Bowled Out for 115

After winning the toss, Kathmandu Gurkhas elected to bat but struggled to build partnerships against Janakpur's bowling attack. They were eventually dismissed for 115 in 19.3 overs.

Bhim Sharki was Kathmandu's leading scorer with 33 off 29 balls, including four boundaries. R Khan added 17 off 14 deliveries, while Smit Patel contributed 13 off 13.

Kathmandu's innings suffered a late collapse, slipping from 92/6 to 99/9 before a last-wicket partnership added 16 runs to take the total to 115.

Rahul Yadav was the standout bowler for Janakpur, claiming 3/31 in four overs and earning the Player of the Match award. Saif Hassan supported him with an economical spell of 2/11, while Lalit Rajbanshi also picked up two wickets for 30 runs.

Janakpur's chase began with the early dismissal of Trit Raj Das for five. Mayan Yadav followed for nine, leaving the Bolts at 37/2.

However, Moeen Ali and Saif Hassan took control of the innings with an unbeaten 79-run partnership for the third wicket from 74 deliveries.

Moeen finished unbeaten on 58, striking three fours and three sixes. Saif remained not out on 40, hitting one four and three sixes as the pair guided Janakpur to 116/2 in 17.2 overs.

For Kathmandu, Ripon Mondol was the only bowler to take a wicket, finishing with figures of 1/17 in three overs.

The victory gave Janakpur Bolts two valuable points, with Moeen and Saif delivering a composed partnership to complete the chase.
